Bring Back the Stanley Cup to Toronto

“This is just a metaphor.”

For far too long has the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey franchise taken this hockey-loving town for granted.

In November 2002, the Leafs were named by Sports Illustrated hockey writer Michael Farber as the “Most Hated Team in Hockey”. Leafs fans are also known for being loyal despite being treated poorly—in a 2008 survey by ESPN The Magazine on rewarding fans, the Leafs were ranked 121st out of the 122 professional teams in the Big Four leagues. The Leafs came last in ticket affordability

As the richest hockey team in the NHL, $470 million (2009), (“ NHL Team Valuations”. Forbes. 2009), it is time for the Leafs to earn their money.

A whole generation of Torontonians have never seen the Leafs win the Stanley Cup, being that 1967 was the last time they won. 43 years ago.

It is high time to tell the team that you either bring the Cup back to Toronto or as Mayor, I will campaign for a second Toronto NHL team to do it.
