Enfranchise Neighbourhood Groups as part of the planning process

“It is unfair to call them “NIMBY” because they are just confused by our imperfect system”

Include neighborhood groups as valued consultants in the development process. Currently, Toronto’s Neighborhood Associations vary in size and level of organization. These groups need a more consistent level of professionalism, and should be strengthened through regulations and guidelines for their operations. Along with increased credibility and accountability, neighborhood groups will evolve into an important voice in the city’s planning process.

I believe that these groups should be more integrated as part of the process. However, this inclusion comes with responsibilities and commitments. There ought to be proper representation of all views and regular opportunities to meeting and set visions and objectives.
